Scott's Lyme Disease Expenses

Donation protected
In the summer of 2012, our dad was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. This diagnosis gave understanding to the mysterious symptoms our dad had endured for the previous 34 years. From debilitating headaches, fatigue, joint pain, chronic stomach issues, and more, our dad has not allowed the pain to define him or our family. However, four years ago, when symptoms significantly increased it became evident that he could no longer manage the pain without further medical intervention. Thus began a long, life changing road full of doctors, surgeries, and experimental treatments. In keeping with his character, our dad and mom have walked the road laid before them with grace and faith, believing that the Lord sees them and has prepared a way. This has been confirmed to them in countless ways over the past four years.

Recently, his trusted team of doctors has recommended an intense course of in-patient treatment. The recommended treatments have the potential to increase quality of life right now and significantly impact the overall management of the Lyme Disease. While Lyme cannot be cured, the hope is that with these treatments, the Lyme could go into remission and increase our dad's ability to have a life outside of multiple daily IV's and injections, 100s of pills each day, doctors’ appointments, fatigue and pain.

The plan right now is for Dad and Mom to travel to the clinic on February 7, 2017 for three weeks. The anticipated cost for this trip is $21,000, none of which will be covered by insurance. Up to this point, Dad and Mom have been able to cover the cost of the treatments. God has been faithful to provide in many ways; some expected and some unexpected. The benefit of this upcoming treatment outweigh the monetary cost and so it is by faith, that we, as a family, are believing that it will be covered.

When we, the three sisters, heard about the upcoming treatment, our immediate thought is that there are multiple individuals who have walked this journey with us through prayer, encouragement, yard work, and so much more. We felt prompted to invite you to be part of this journey in whatever way the Lord might be leading you. For some of you, that will be prayer and encouragement and that is a great gift. But for others, it may be a financial gift as well.

Four years ago, when our Dad was first diagnosed, the words of Psalm 107:43 echoed the prayer of our hearts then and now, "They will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord."

We are thankful for all of you, and the part that you have played in this journey.
