Scott Sparrow's Skull Surgery

Scott Sparrow (13 months old), will undergo a major skull surgery reconstruction on December 8, 2020 to correct Scaphocephaly from Craniosynostosis (the premature fusion of skull bones). His type of Craniosynostosis (sagittal) presents as an oblong head shape, and if left uncorrected, can restrict blood flow in the brain, and create intracranial pressure as he grows. It's estimated that Scott's surgery cost (after insurance) will be somewhere between $15-20k. While we realize we are more fortunate than many, Covid has significantly impacted us financially this year.
The surgeons make a huge incision across the top of the head, reconstruct the skull bones by removing and cutting/shaping them, and then replace the skull and sew it all up. It's intense. In this procedure there is always a (small) risk that a baby may lose too much blood and not wake up after the surgery. To be sure that our little Scottie gets the absolute best care possible, we'll be traveling from the Chicago area to The Craniofacial Center in Dallas, TX. The Children's Craniofacial Association will be reimbursing our travel costs. (Thank you!) If we are lucky enough to reach our donation goal, we would encourage friends to donate to CCA Kids
In gratitude, Rachel Sparrow (Scott's mother, and professional musician) will be offering a virtual musical benefit concert (as a playlist of videos) to raise awareness for Cranio and to give a musical tribute of uplifting, peaceful and soothing songs. Here is the link to the playlist so far (we also plan to play these songs for Scott while he's sedated and recovering from surgery.)
