Hi, I’m Shauna Neal (Scott Neal’s cousin). Scott has been fighting for his life at ANMC in Anchorage. He has contracted a flesh eating disease that entered his blood stream and has been undergoing blood transfusions and dialysis, and has been on a ventilator due to his heart pumping at a lower than normal rate. Most of this being caused by the infection attacking his body. Yesterday Scott went through his second major surgery in less than a week to amputate his leg in hopes of clearing the infection. He made it out of surgery (something they were not sure would even be possible with his current health).
Until this past week, he has been alone in the hospital for about a month. His brother Steven and Aunt Janice traveled from Juneau to Anchorage earlier this week to be with him. Steven is currently still there and we hope to be able to have him there as long as possible. We will be using the money for any costs associated with Steven being away from work while in Anchorage, as well as any medical bills or needs that come up that are not currently covered. Scott is not out of the woods yet, and has a long road ahead of him. Completing the surgery yesterday was a major hurdle crossed and we are so grateful for all of the progress, no matter how large or small. He may need a prosthetic, as well as lots of post surgery therapy to assist in adjusting to a new way of life.
These boys have had a rough few years after previously losing their mom to cancer, and losing their dad to cancer just last year. Scott has 2 young kids, Elias (12) and Grace (2) and we need him to be able to make it home to them. Any donations would be greatly appreciated as it is so important for Steven to be with Scott while he is fighting.
Thank you so much for supporting our family during this difficult time. No donation is too small. If you don’t have money to donate we would greatly appreciate any prayers and anyone who is willing to share this post. ❤️
