Hi, my name is Dani, and I am fundraising for my father-in-law, Scott Lehrke. Scott is a lifelong member of the Aitkin community, graduating from Aitkin High School in 1979. Unfortunately, Scott has recently had to overcome several obstacles; in December of 2017, he needed open-heart surgery that turned into a quadruple bypass. Then, in May of 2019, Scott had an accident while working that resulted in him breaking several bones, of which he required back and neck surgery. Both of these events required lengthy recoveries that ended up draining his savings. Scott is self-employed and has no paid time off or short-term/long-term disability insurance.

This past December, Scott got Covid and was admitted to the hospital on December 26th. He was not discharged until January 15th. Once he was home, he was on oxygen 24/7 and required home health nurses to assist with all aspects of daily life.

Scott has been out of work since the middle of December and is not sure when/if he will be able to return. Up until now, Scott has been doing everything to avoid asking for help. However, that is proving to be an uphill battle.

Scott has always been willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether financially or physically. So now it is time for me to reach out and request help for Scott. He needs to focus on recovering fully before worrying about getting back to work.
