This is my brother-in-law, Scott (aka-Moose to his friends). He is 51 years old and the loving husband of
15 years to my sister, and father to their five children. Scott had been battling stage four cancer, a very
rare form of Melanoma that started as a tumor on the side of his torso. Over the past three years, he had
worked with doctors on all types of treatments but to no avail. His cancer was terminal. It had spread
throughout his entire body to most of his organs and even his brain. The cancer was very
aggressive, and in the past several months, it was relentless in its attack. Last night Scott lost his battle against his cancer and is resting in God now.
My sister and the children have watched this wonderful man fight so hard. Not once did he ever give up,
and not once had he shown signs of giving up, no matter how difficult a fight it had been. He
said all along that his biggest motivation was his wife and kids and that he wanted nothing more than to be
able to watch them grow up into adulthood. Despite the battle he had been going through, he
continued to get up and go to work every day, even up until only a couple of weeks ago. Recently, the
doctors signaled to the family that it is time to put his affairs in order, as he was nearing his final days. Now, with
medical bills, the loss of his income as the primary breadwinner for his large family, and a
mortgage to take care of, my sister needs your help to raise funds for the family.
Scott is survived by my sister, Jennifer, and five children between the ages of 4-19. Scott was a
wonderful, loving man who raised two of these children as his own after they lost their father to a fatal
car accident while the oldest was only a young toddler and my sister was 6 months pregnant with her
daughter. They are now teenagers, but since the time my sister and he found true love in one
another, he has supported her in raising these two children as his own, in addition to having three more
children together, including a teenage daughter and two young boys (4 and 5 years old). In addition to
this wonderful family they have together, Scott also has four adult children from his first marriage. He
has always been a family man and has always put their priorities first, no matter what.
There are no words to describe Scott. He was a dedicated, hard-working man. He loved his family. He
had worked for many years in the automotive industry. But his true passions in life have been coral/saltwater
aquatics, fishing, and drum corps. With his friends at work and in drum corps, he was known as Moose
because of his size (6’3”). If you had ever been around Scott, you would always get one of two sides: either you would get his
gentle, quiet demeanor where he would sit back and enjoy listening to the conversations of others going on;
or you would get the engaging, lively Scott, where everyone in the room knew he was there. Either way,
you were getting a great guy who cared about what was going on in your life and wanted to listen and help
however he could If you were sad, he was your defender; if you were happy, he was your laughing audience; if you were
excited, he was your partner in crime to go out and have fun. And the best part about this guy, besides the
way this big bear could give the best cuddle and loves to anyone he hugged, was how excited he would get about the
things he enjoyed. The enthusiasm and passion he evoked when he talked about what he was interested in could get
anyone to love those same things. This gentle giant was someone that no one will ever forget. He will forever be in our memories...
