Donation protected
John’s battle with cancer ended on Thursday June 12th. His warm loving spirit will live on with our memories of him! Rest in Peace dear friend
Any additional support to this Go Fund Me will help Scott transition in this difficult time. He will be starting his own cancer treatments in two weeks.
…,.,
My best friend and their spouse are both battling cancer.
Fall 2024- Scott’s stomach cancer came back after being in remission. This time it has spread into his lower abdomen. He began to do injection treatments and had to stop them to take care of their spouse.
Winter 2024-John was having some issues with what they thought was a recurring illness. They sent him to an ENT because antibiotics and steroids were not working. They did a scan and sent him directly to the ER on NYE. It was there they found that he had one lung collapsed, a mass on his other, and his vocal cord paralyzed. His lung cannot be re-inflated because it would spread the cancer quicker. They set up an appointment for further testing. Soon they were given the news that John has stage 4 lung cancer that had spread through his body, including to his kidneys and brain.
At this stage in the cancer there is no cure, they could try chemo to slow down the progression but it wasn’t guaranteed. They’ve done radiation which only shrunk the mass in his brain very little, but the other mass in his lungs are the same. He is doing chemotherapy now.
Some days are better than others, but there are many days that both of them are unable to be active. Their family is making sure they have groceries, but it’s hard for them to find the energy to cook let alone eat sometimes. They are modest people who would never ask anyone for financial help. We know they need it, as we’ve seen the stack of bills on the end table when we’ve visited. Our goal of $2500 is something small that will help ease everyday expenses and bills. Any little bit will help them both!
