Scott Hartwich - Memorial and family Support

Donation protected
Bellingham lost one of its best; a truly one of a kind good man.

Scott Hartwich will forever be remembered as a loving husband and father, a pillar of our community, an intellectual and outspoken advocate for human rights, a devoted Seahawks fan and critic, and a passionate and talented coffee roaster.
Scott passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Christmas Eve, Tuesday December 24th, 2019.  He was 58 years young. He leaves behind his kindhearted and devoted wife Mary Burwell and their children Ezra and Andrew. The family will need financial assistance with cremation and funeral costs and immediate living expenses. They are mourning and getting used to life without Scott and this community can lend a helping hand by lifting some of the financial burdens.

Many Hamsters will remember Scott as the driving force behind Hammerhead Coffee, a charismatic coffee lover and the man behind every batch of beans roasted to perfection. Hammerhead is a true Bellingham institution!

"Scott was a bold and brave no holds barred roaster. He connected with everyone he met and was engaging. He loved good causes, dogs, kitties, babies, Hammerhead sharks, dark roasts, talking a bit too long, and meeting people. He was a force FOR good and OF good. He worked to make the world a lil bit better and... succeeded.
….. I feel lucky to have watched him roast on a stubborn machine and bend it to his will, bang his grinders into shape, get those last minute orders out on time, and make new friends into customers all while being a supportive and amazing husband and dad...and friend. "

If Mary is to continue the coffee roasting legacy then she is going to need community support. There are some big shoes left to fill and we can't ask Mary to do it alone.  This community, her friends and family must come together and help her. Scott and Mary have given this community so much, and now the time has come to honor Scott by helping those he loved most in their time sorrow and loss.
