Scott Hardy Memorial Dog Park Bench
Donation protected

Do any of these pictures tug at your heart strings? Were you touched by the life of Scott Hardy? It has been over 10 years since we lost our dear friend. In honor of him, we are creating a memorial so that his memory can live on.
Scott was a respected social studies and special education teacher for the North Kansas City School District, having taught at Antioch, Northgate, Winnetonka and Maple Park. Scott was loved by his students and collegues as well. He made an impact on the Northland community and in his relationships through his quirkiness, enthusiasm and acceptance for all types of people. Many will attest to Scotts huge heart, as he never allowed anyone within his reach to hurt.
As you know, Scott Hardy loved his fur babies. Most of you will remember Scully and Atticus who he cherished. After much thought, we decided a meaningful way to honor Scott would be to connect our memories with his love of dogs.
Parkville is in the process of building a dog park called Platte Landing Park. http://parkvillemo.gov/community/parks/platte-landing-park/. Scott often walked with his babies along the river in Parkville. Our intention is to purchase a permanent bench where other dog lovers can sit by the river and enjoy watching their dogs play. Engraved on the bench will be a plaque honoring Scott with his name and some basic information about his life.
The bench will sit inside the dog park and will be mounted on a concrete slab. The cost of the personalized bench is $2000. Any money that is raised about the goal amount will go towards adding other items that may include a dog statue, permanent water bowl, structure to provide shade and/or obstacle course equipment for dogs.
We will be planning on having a dedication ceremony on or around June 6th, the anniversary of the day he left us. There will be an opportunity for people to share stories and enjoy the company of others who loved Scott.
Any questions can be directed to Helena Cosentino, Beth Suter or Andy Schuerman. We have set up an email [email redacted].
Thank you for considering donating to this meaningful cause. Any amount is appreciated and feel free to share this fundraising campaign with others we may have missed.
Sincerely,
Helena, Beth and Andy
