Scott family support while Jonathan recovers from pneumonia
Donation protected
Hello, we are raising funds to help our dear friends Alex and Carole Scott who currently have their eldest son Jonathan (20 years old) in hospital.
He has bacterial pneumonia in both lungs and nearly lost his life. He was put in a medically induced coma and life support in our local hospital and then flown to Perth, Western Australia, by RFDS from the Great Southern on Saturday 31st August to Fiona Stanley ICU.
This has come as a huge shock. It was originally diagnosed as an unknown flu virus with not much to be done, but then changed to bacterial virus and given antibiotics. Apparently healthy young people's health can go downhill very quickly as the body is good at compensating until it suddenly can't cope anymore.
They are thankful for support already given by way of meals and other help. There are extra costs for accommodation, fuel and parking - just to name a few!
Carole has had to relocate to Perth which has been a huge upheaval. At the same time, it is very difficult to earn an income when you are dealing with these circumstances. Alex is self-employed 450kms away from his son in hospital. He's managed some time off, but it requires lots of travel back and forth.
Zachary (younger son) is also offering support along with working and studying.
Although Jonathan is showing signs of improvement, he still has an expected 2 - 4 weeks in ICU particularly as he was put on ECMO within 2 hours of 3 specialists working on him and nothing helping. There are many risks in his treatment.
It will then be a long recovery, and he will need to have lots of rehabilitation.
Please support them all with prayer and in whatever ways you can. Your gifts (large or small) will ALL make a difference for them now and in the weeks and months ahead.
There will be more updates later in the month.
The Michael family.
