Scott Epley having No FUN in Fungal infections

Every little bit helps!

We are moved by all who have helped Scott with gifts to the GoFundMe account. He is also truly blessed by all who have given in person and those who are spreading the word. Thank you!!!

Scott has been working diligently with the hospital to reduce the expenses, but he has not fully recovered and has a long way to go. The follow-up with the lung doctor was discouraging, and they are referring him to an infectious disease specialist.

The daily strain physically, mentally and financially has been tremendous.

We humbly ask again to please continue to help spread the word.

See the original post below...... Thank you again!!

Oh, how does one begin...
After four weeks of an intense, persistent cough, two separate trips to the Emergency Room and one to Urgent Care, on July 24th, his third trip to the ER, Scott was admitted into Baptist Hospital.

He was still suffering from the extremely painful cough of over four weeks, extreme swelling in both legs and feet, shortness of breath, fatigue, severe night sweats, and weight loss.

In less than two hours, he was admitted to the Intensive Care isolation unit, on the verge of total collapse. He was immediately admitted due to the abnormalities in his blood work. Several days of rigorous testing, and multiple misdiagnoses later, at which point he was even weaker thn when he was admitted. he was diagnosed with sepsis. This fungal/bacterial infection was narrowed down to the right lung, harboring this deadly infection.

This infection prevented Scott from getting less than 40% of the oxygen normally needed to function, which kept him out of work for a week prior to his hospitalization. The infection had evolved to thrush, affecting his whole digestive system up to his mouth and lips and even to the point of showing on Scotts face.

The next step of treatment required a thoracentesis which could not be done in the facility where he had been for three days, so Scott was transported via ambulance, to the Pensacola location to begin the painful procedure. Four days and by the grace of God, no complications later, he was released from the hospital to start the long road to full recovery.

So here we are, humbly and graciously, asking for any monetary help. The whole Baptist health group was involved, from pulmonary, infectious disease, radiology, CT specialists and various other hospital staff. We've all have had someone close or been close ourselves to death .................. and how thankful we were, that it wasn't our time to be called home. How often do we consider the cost left with the life that has been saved, leaving us with, In Scott's case, a lifetime of paying, for this gift. (SMILES)

Scott has a case manager in the financial assistance department who will do all he can to consolidate the bills and find a way to reduce the cost accumulated from the ER Visits, the transport and the various specialized care given.

Thank you, and may God bless you for your prayers and for any assistance you can give to lighten Scotts load financially.
