On Thursday night, I woke to officers at my home. Unexpectedly and shockingly, I heard the words no child should hear.

My dad was my first love. As a child, he was the one who taught me how to love myself. How I deserved to be treated. He set the standards high. And never doubted my dreams.

He passed Thursday night at 53 years young. I am without words.
