Scott Corner & Family Fund

Scott is currently hospitalized and in serious condition after an attempt to end his own life Thursday, April 25th.  He was moved out of the ICU last Wednesday after having undergone 3 surgeries in the previous days. Scott continues to make daily progress, and despite his jaw being wired shut and having a trach put in, he is still able to communicate with the doctors, nurses, his friends and family. He writes messages on a dry erase board, gestures, squeezes hands and "gives looks". Later this week Scott will undergo another surgery, and will have more to come after that. Scott and his family are faced with an unknown future that will likely include numerous surgeries, and certainly a lot of recovery time.

Scott's wife, Jenni, and their family have had their world flipped upside down, and are now presented with numerous challenges. Jenni is facing providing for their family on only one salary now, as well as finding daycare for their young son, Carsen. Scott was Carsen's primary daycare during the day while Jenni worked, and Jenni at night while Scott worked. The family was also looking for a new place to call home at the time of this tragedy, and need to re-locate soon.

During this time Scott is surrounded by his family and loved ones as he heals and recovers. His family asks that we open our hearts and offer compassion without judgment for those who suffer from illness rooted in stigma, trauma, and shame.

Scott, Jenni, and their whole family are facing many challenges and and unclear future. One thing that is certain is they could use all of our support and love as they begin to mend their lives.

Whatever you can give, small or large, is extremely helpful, and greatly appreciated. Funds will go directly to Scott and his family, and will go towards medical bills, new housing costs, groceries, daycare, and any other costs that arise for the family as Scott recovers.

Thank you all tremendously for your understanding, your support, and the love you've shown.

May is mental health awareness month. If you or someone you know is suffering, it is time to speak up. Ask questions, offer help, end the silence, end the stigma.
