On June 9th, 2019 my cousin, Scott Burrow (50), collapsed at his home in Tennessee.
His wife, Amy, and kids, Payten and Presten, rushed him to the hospital not knowing
what the outcome would be for their husband/father.
Soon after arriving, Scott had a massive heart attack and had to be sedated and put on
a breathing machine. Amy, scared and not knowing what to do, sat in the waiting room
anxious for any news about Scott.
The doctors ran some tests and found that he had a 90% blockage in the front of his
heart, commonly known as the widow maker. They rushed Scott into surgery where a
stent was placed. He also had a small clot that they treated with blood thinners. It was
decided that he should be transferred to Erlanger so he could get the best possible care
but he was still in major heart failure. Amy stayed by his side the entire time refusing to
leave her husband until he was awake and talking to her.
An impella was inserted to help his heart pump as it was only working at about 15% and
his lungs started collecting fluid. Scott was still in critical condition, but stable. They
kept him sedated so he wouldn’t bleed out and to allow his body to begin to heal. He
was given 5 units of blood as he lost blood during surgery due to the blood thinners. His
heart had to get stronger so it could work to its fullest and keep him alive. At this point it
was just a waiting game. And Amy was still by his side the entire time.
Over the next couple of days he continues to fight for his life and things start looking up.
With Amy by his side she was able to get him to calm down long enough for them to
take him off the ventilator to see if he was able to breathe on his own and remove the
impella to see if his heart would be able to pump on it's own. The doctors were finally
able to remove the breathing machine and impella and Scott came to, scared and not
knowing what he had been through the past few days. Amy was still by his side,
keeping him calm and trying to explain the unimaginable to him.
Luckily Scott has no brain damage, his heart is healing and he is more than happy to be
alive. And Amy never left his side.
Fortunately, Amy has been able to keep one of her jobs as her employer completely
understood the situation and is working with her to keep her employed. Unfortunately,
Amy was fired from another job for taking too much time off and Scott of course has not
been able to work either. The Burrow's need your help to get them through this terrible
time in their lives. Neither of them need the extra added stress of paying the bills and
although they do not like to ask for help, they find themselves in a financial crisis. This
beautiful family of 4 (Scott, Amy and their kids Payten and Presten) are more than
thankful and blessed by your donations and help. They also thank all of you who
prayed for Scott to pull through!
We Love You Scott!!!!!
