Scott resides in the Carolina Beach, NC area. The storm affected the area much worse than predicted. Although he lives in a brick home, nearly all of the shingles on the roof were lost in the storm, leading to catastrophic flooding. The ceiling in all but two rooms have collapsed, resulting in a home that is unsafe to live in. He and his family slept in their car last night, and are precariously low on fuel with next to no available gas at any of the gas stations in town.
*** UPDATE (September 20, 2018): Scott and his family are holding up well, given the circumstances, and are incredibly grateful for all the love and support they have received. After the first night, spent in their car, they secured a hotel room for two nights, although they had no power or WiFi. At the time, travel was next to impossible due to lack of fuel and treacherous road conditions. Wilmington is slowly coming back to life, and the conditions improved enough to refill the gas stations. Their home is destroyed, and unsafe to enter without a respirator. All the hotels in the area are full, but he was able to find a hotel that will allow him to stay for longer than a few days at a time. Your generous donations gave them peace of mind, a warm dry place to sleep, and the ability to communicate with loved ones and friends. I can’t thank you enough for your help!
I raised the goal for this fundraiser, as the expenses incurred during long-term hotel stays are considerable. With thousands of homes destroyed, his is one of many that have to be appraised and then repaired. I continue to ask for your help on their behalf, until they are able to move back into their home. ***
As most of you are aware, building car audio systems and RCA boxes for others is his sole means of income. He is known throughout the community for being an honest, friendly and trustworthy person...a truly stand-up guy. He and his family are desperately in need of your help. I’d ask that those of you who know him, or know of him, to help me in giving their family some assistance so they can sleep somewhere dry and warm, and stay healthy until conditions for them improve. Thank you in advance for your help.
About myself: My name is Jay Jobes, and I live in Snow Camp, NC. I was referred to Scott a few years ago for some audio work, which resulted in Zeus, the car I took to many shows this year (including Slamology 2018). My car is representative of the quality of his work, and of the passion he has for the hobby and those that love it.
