Scott's Story - It's a Wonderful Life

If you are reading this, you likely know Scott Biszewski and, like all of us, you feel lucky to know him.  Scott was always the little man with a giant personality that lit up the room with his humor, energy and wit, lifting the spirits of everyone around him.  He had an innate ability to communicate and connect with people and he constantly forged new trails of friendship over his lifetime because he was able to touch people deep inside and displayed a love of life that was contagious to all around him.  Above all, Scott was an intensely devoted family man that provided the strong foundation for his amazing family who radiate love with the same vigor as Scott.  We are all better people because we knew Scott Biszewski.

In late August 2019, Scott was on vacation in Florida when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest and, by the grace of God, a wonderful friend performed CPR until the medics arrived to transport him to the nearest emergency room.  In route to the emergency room, the EMT’s restored his heart beat not once, but twice, enabling Scott to live to fight another day.  Scott was about to face the toughest test of his life and his entire family raced to Florida to support him in his battle that was to take place over the next two weeks.  Friends and family also stormed the heavens with prayers to support Scott and provide him with the strength to regain his health.  During this time, Scott showed improvement, but the battle raged on for too long and he eventually succumbed to organ failure.  What many people don’t know is that Scott’s fight actually began many years earlier on the date of his birth, July 12, 1962.

Scott was born with a congenital heart condition that, in layman’s terms, meant his heart was upside down, backwards, missing a chamber and was twice a big as a normal human’s heart.  Not much was known about Scott’s heart condition in those days and doctors said he would not live to see his first birthday.  His brave parents refused to give up hope and Scottie the fighter defied the odds and would not let the story of his life end early.  With fortitude and tenacity, he overcame the obstacles his heart presented and never felt sorry for himself during his life-long battle.  Life was always sweeter for Scott because he realized how precious life really was and we saw this every time we heard him joke and laugh.  Scott kept his health challenges to himself because he knew he would win and he did not seek sympathy from others.  We are eternally grateful for the 57 wonderful years we had with Scott.

Scott’s health problems and recent Florida hospitalization has come with a significant financial cost.  Scott’s family is humbled by the support, prayers and love offered by everyone but many people have asked about additional ways they can help the family.  This is where you can help.  Please show your continued love and support for Scott’s family by donating to this GoFundMe site to help cover these costs. Scott is now in the presence of the Lord and is smiling down upon all of us with a love that shines bright.  Let us return that love by supporting his family legacy.   We thank you for your support.
