Help Our Dad, Scott, Recover from His Heart Attack

Dad’s Story:
In March of 2021, our father, Scott Bateman, was helping his daughter move to Phoenix for a new job when he began complaining of pressure and pain in his chest and left arm. We knew immediately that he was likely suffering a heart attack, and rushed him to the nearest hospital.

The news was worse than we feared: He was actively suffering a massive heart attack due to three blocked arteries. This type of heart attack is known as the Widow Maker because more often than not, people don’t survive it.
We got lucky. Because we caught it in time, Dad was able to get immediate treatment. The doctors put in three stents, which are small mesh tubes that open up the arteries and allow for better blood flow, but Dad’s heart was still only working at 35% capacity. He only spent three days in the hospital, and is now home, resting, healing, and working on improving his overall health..
Moving Forward:
Although Dad only spent three days in the hospital, the cost of the treatment was well over $100,000. Because he has always worked as a contractor, he did not have health insurance, and after negotiating with the hospital, Dad owes $45,000. In addition, Dad will need a lifesaving prescription, which costs about $450 every month. Failure to take this medication can cause the stent to collapse, aggravating the condition, and eventually causing another heart attack. Dad and Mom have worked with the hospital to get on a payment plan, and will be paying $1500 every month until the fees are paid off.
Dad is deeply grateful to anyone who can offer their help during this time, and is working with doctors to find ways that he can extend his life and spend more time with the people he loves. And everyone who loves him - his children, his wife, and his grandchildren - thank you for your love and support.

Scott’s statement:
Ease, joy, and glory to all who may see this. My name is Scott Bateman and I am reaching out for your help. I am a 59 year old man that has been married to my best friend and love of my life, Cindy, for 40 years. We have four children and thirteen grandchildren.
A recent medical event has created a financial burden and I pray for your blessings. Thank you and God bless everyone.
