Scott and Lori Jackson Family

Hi! My name is Linda Handy, and I am requesting your PRAYERS AND IF POSSIBLE, A DONATION for my sister, Lori (Glenn) Jackson's family. Many folks, when they find out, want to help. See what you can afford, even $20 is appreciated.
WHY? If you believe in miracles, as I do, and the hand of God directing our lives as He allows trials but also giving us the comforting support from angels on earth. I would like to tell you about Scott Jackson, who is my sweet sister Lori’s husband. They live in Nephi, Utah. Self-employed, he can no longer provide for his large family, and is suddenly facing a high risk, literally life-threatening heart surgery and additional medical expenses.
WHO IS SCOTT JACKSON? If he lived next to you, you would probably describe him as A FRIEND, GREAT, HARD WORKING FAMILY MAN, who is always volunteering and willing to jump in and offer a hand. Formerly a probation officer, he decided to pursue a real estate license and did well until the pandemic. The Lord blessed their family with the opportunity to take care of 44 church building lawns and irrigation.
WHO IS LORI JACKSON? LOVING AND DEVOTED MOM TO 12 CHILDREN (including 6 young adopted siblings from foster care.) She’s a talented, at home design artist & seamstress, coordinating a cottage industry, DesignerLeagueUtah (6 women who delight in sewing costumes in their homes). For years, Lori has been behind the scenes, creating and making all the dance costumes for the Stadium of Fire (BYU), claiming to be the largest 4th of July Celebrations! Those attending have seen the American flag that Lori’s team sewed, that covers the football stadium! I was very proud of her efforts when I watched this event spotlighted nationally on Fox News last July 4th, which they reported as representing the best of America’s love of our country.
WHAT HAPPENED TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES? Scott went to the ER with sudden extreme pain and weakness in his arm and leg, was in the hospital for a week, on Father’s Day they discovered that he had a genetic disorder: A degenerating aortic valve, and the aorta had an aneurysm up into the arch. If left alone the aorta would burst and Scott would die instantly. IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ASAP. Lori was in tears when she called me, asking for help, as the doctors told Scott to put his affairs in order (will, family trust). After a search, an amazing medical team at Intermountain Medical (Dr. Peterson, Dr Doddy, and Dr Mitchell) accepted this surgery challenge called the Ross procedure (apparently one of few teams with this skill in all of Utah), set for Aug 14. Their plan is extreme: To put Scott on bypass, to replace his aortic valve with his healthy pulmonary valve and then put him on ice to create a hypothermic state to repair his ascending aorta( which needs to be done in 25 minutes).. I admire how Scott and Lori express faith that there is a purpose for this trial in their lives, and they believe in miracles.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE JACKSON CHILDREN: Scott was the Scout leader for a few of Lori’s 5 older boys (Daniel, James, Michael, Kevin, and Scottie) from her first marriage. They adored him, especially his love of camping and hiking. Scott (who had never found the right gal or married) finally found Lori and asked her to marry him. They truly complement each other. They had one son, Luke, and after several miscarriages, prayed and yearned to expand their family. Scott and Lori felt impressed to look into foster care. Then came the opportunity to foster with the intent to adopt 6 siblings. They were separated into 2 foster homes. Scott and Lori were able to reunite the siblings into their home. Wow! Six children ages 2 1/2-9 yrs. In 2017, they had the privilege of adopting these children (all with special needs) into their family and were able to have them sealed to them 1 month later. When I visit Lori’s home, I am in awe of this blended family, this loving home with these beautiful children, in need of special care, with older, loving brothers coming in and out.
