Scot's Publishing a Story
Donation protected
Once again, thank you VERY much to those who’ve made a contribution to my publishing project. I’m almost HALFWAY to my 5k goal!! It feels great to hit that mark!! Please read on if you would, and consider a donation if you can, and please post to your account too! Thank you!
I am an elementary school teacher, a writer, and more recently, a parent. My husband and I began fostering our son when he was 3.5. We formally adopted him a year and a half later. Since Shane came into our lives, we've been learning so much. Prevailing wisdom is to talk about adoption with children from the start, and in one of the gazillion books that I've read, I learned that to help young children begin to understand their own story, it is helpful to embed the adoption concept into story. There are not many books for young children out there that tell a compelling LGBTQ adoption story, so I made one up for Shane, and I've written it down, and I think it can benefit other parents and children. The story is meant to be accompanied by illustrations, and the estimates I've gotten for my project average five thousand dollars. I'm hoping to select an illustrator by mid summer, and your support would mean the world to me. I will give 30 percent of the proceeds to the New England Home for Little Wanderers, the oldest child welfare agency in the country, as well as acknowledgements in the book for donations of at least 100 dollars. Thank you sincerely for your support of this endeavor.
