Mobility Scooter for Pete
Donation protected

Meet Pete! Pete is 62 years old, devoted father and husband, US veteran, the best dog dad and an overall goofball. Pete has spent his life having fun, working hard and cracking jokes along the way. In 2017, Pete was suffering from a “medical mystery” where we went months of going back and forth from hospital to hospital where they could not figure out why he was randomly losing the use of his legs. Finally, after 8 months of not knowing, we got the diagnosis that he was suffering from mini strokes and one last massive stroke that made him loose the complete use of his left arm and the majority of control in his left leg. Since then, Pete was forced to leave his job and stay at home bound to his wheelchair. He spent close to two years without leaving the house, missing plenty of holidays, family parties and social interactions. He had previously applied through his health insurance for mobility assistance and a scooter but was denied. We were able to find a used scooter for him a few months ago and it has drastically changed his quality of life. He has been able to go to the grocery store, go to Petco, meet neighbors that have now become friends and enjoys being out and more independent. Today, my dad had an accident where the back wheel of his chair snapped off while he was driving thru the neighborhood causing him to fall. He had to have first responders get him out of the road and get him back into our house. Thankfully, he is doing great besides a few scratches, but the scooter is beyond repair. Me and my family are looking to purchase him a new safer and more reliable scooter so he can maintain his newfound freedom and also stay safe while doing so. Unfortunately, these scooters are expensive and with my dad’s income being cut from losing his job, rent/mortgage payments and life expenses in general, we are humbly asking for any help that we can get. My father would give the shirt off his back for any person in need. We are trying to raise $1,200.00 dollars to help my dad continue with his newfound joy and be able to get out of the house. All donations will 100% be put towards the purchase of his mobility scooter.
Anything is appreciated.
With Love,
