Life changing scooter for Beth!
Donation protected
Hello! Please allow me to introduce my amazing best friend Beth, who was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in 2016. She was given an 18% chance for five year survival, and all who love Beth are so thankful she is still with us at year six. I’m sure Beth’s survival is due in no small part to her incredibly positive attitude, with some quirkiness and humor thrown in to entertain others in her journey.
Beth has undergone extensive chemo treatments, which have resulted in severe neuropathy in her hands and feet. In the last year, the neuropathy has intensified and impacted her mobility. Whereas she could initially navigate with leg braces and a walker, she is no longer able to walk. She spends 99% of her time in her recliner and is only able to leave her house monthly for chemo sessions, with assistance via wheelchair from her home.
I am hoping we can make a Thanksgiving miracle happen for Beth! I am fund raising for a $4,000 electric “Jazzy” scooter and a $500 lift for their truck. With taxes and GoFundMe fees, $5,250 will cover everything. Having the Jazzy will allow Beth to navigate outdoors on her own, to enjoy their beautiful woodsy yard and visit the goats, chickens, and dogs who live there. The Jazzy will also allow Beth to go with her hubby Joe on the many grocery runs he makes for their food truck business, which he is managing even with his own recent cancer diagnosis. Joe is unable to push Beth in a wheelchair and also push a shopping cart, so this will be a huge quality of life gain for them both. Beth will also be able to go to events with her daughters and grandson, and navigate life in an independent way.
I’m thrilled to share that an
anonymous donor is matching our first $1,000 raised.
