Science Academy Debate Team

Hello! We are the Science Academy Speech & Debate team. Recently, our coach moved away and we now find ourselves coachless, sponsorless, and without any support from our school. We have tried on several occasions to ask our administrators for funding, support, anything to help our team survive. However, we have been met with pushback and told that there is nothing we can do about it because of a lack of funding by the district. We love speech and debate. It is our favorite thing to do and we cannot bare to lose such an important and special program at our already humanities-lacking school.

Our goal is for $17,800, as this will not only cover the fees for a new coach, but also for out-of-state tournaments and other resources our team needs. This number comes from the website of the National Speech and Debate Association and is the average amount of money needed by debate teams in the US.

We are hoping to raise this money by the end of August because we are looking to compete starting in September.
