Science Matters! #Weloveteachers!

Mrs. O'Shea teaches science at the Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning. She is one of those teachers that makes science come alive- be it conflict minerals or biodiversity in the wetlands. Not only does she make it come alive, she teaches 'why' science actually matters. She creates a vibrant environment where we, as her students, want to learn. She plans field trips to wastewater plants and recycling centers so we can actually see what is happening. She takes us into the field to collect water samples from ponds and streams. She brings us healthy snacks on test days to be sure we are able to take tests in the best frame of mind. Mrs. O'Shea teaches in a way which creates young men and women who want to make changes in the world and she also gives us the tools to be able to make those changes. She also runs the EcoClub: a school club which helps us plan and engage in community clean ups from rivers to streets.

We are eternally grateful that such an amazing teacher has touched our lives. And we thank SAEL for hiring her!
