Info:
Greta Schwickert is the daughter of Kent and Jane Schwickert and sister to Ian Schwickert of Mankato, MN. She will represent USEA Area IV at the CIC** level at the 2018 NAYC with both FE Charles Owen and Matchless. Greta is 20 years old and attends the University of Minnesota online while training and competing. This will be her first trip to Young Riders and she is very excited for the opportunity and experience.
FE Charles Owen aka Owen is an eight year old German Sport Horse gelding owned by Kent and Jane Schwickert. Greta purchased Owen from Dom Schramm in 2017 and they quickly formed a partnership and friendship. Owen is a big goofy and lovable horse who loves his job and is eager to please. In the last year, Owen and Greta moved up to Intermediate and most recently finished 9th in the CIC** at Fair Hill International.
Matchless aka Legs is a nine year old OTTB gelding owned by Kent and Jane Schwickert. Greta purchased Legs from Janet Fisk from Stillwater, MN through the guidance of Becky Holder. Legs is a quirky, cuddly, and funny horse who loves his job and to hunt the flags down on cross country. He has been a best friend and teammate to Greta throughout their experiences together. Most recently, Greta and Legs finished 6th in the CIC** at Bromont International just a little over a month after she broke her ankle.
From Greta:
I feel extremely lucky to have the support of my family and friends throughout this journey. This past semester I have worked hard as a full time online student at the University of Minnesota while traveling around the country competing and training. My horses have given me the opportunity to meet and compete against my idols. During this time, I have learned so much about horses, people, and life and I can't wait to keep learning. I know I haven’t chosen the most normal life style but I hope that because of my family, friends, coaches, and peers I can turn this sport into my profession someday. NAYC is just a part of the journey and I am excited to meet and compete against some very successful young riders and have the experience to be on a team. These two horses are my teammates and friends and I am so excited to have the chance to compete both of them at Rebecca Farm and continue to learn as much as I possibly can.
