Hallo liebe Leserinnen und Leser,

es hat mich und meine Familie viel Überwindung gekostet, aber nun müssen wir diesen Versuch, diesen Spendenaufruf, wagen.

Zur Geschichte:

Mein Bruder Alex hatte vor inzwischen 6 Jahren mit 40 einen sehr schweren Schlaganfall.

Was folgte war ein langer und harter Kampf - Operationen, Intensivstation, Rückschläge durch z.B. Hirnhautentzündungen und Infektionen, ½ Jahr Krankenhaus-Aufenthalte und mehrere Monate in der Reha.

Er musste komplett von vorne anfangen, alles neu erlernen (selbstständig atmen, schlucken, sprechen...) und ist dem lieben Herrn da oben mehrmals von der Schippe gesprungen.

Zurück geblieben sind u.a. dennoch eine Lähmung der linken Körperhälfte und kognitive Einschränkungen.

Seinen Alltag kann mein Bruder nicht mehr alleine meistern.

Durch harte Arbeit, viel Hilfe von Freunden und Bekannten und mit Hilfe von privaten Ersparnissen und die Aufnahme von Krediten, haben wir es geschafft, seine Wohnung zuhause im 1. OG möglichst schnell rollstuhl- und behindertengerecht umzubauen.

Es wurde eine große Außenanlage für einen Rollstuhllift und ein weiterer Rollstuhllift innerhalb seiner Wohnung angefertigt und eingebaut.

Die Lifte kosteten alleine knapp 30.000€ und müssen jährlich gewartet werden (je 300-500€/ Wartung).

Zusätzlich mussten die Zimmertüren verbreitert und das Badezimmer komplett entkernt und behindertengerecht umgebaut werden.

Hinzu kommen die nach wie vor laufenden Kosten für den Pflegedienst, der 3-4 x tgl. kommen muss, Hausbesuche für Nagelpflege, Lebensunterhalt, usw.

Unsere Mutter, 75 Jahre alt, wohnt im Erdgeschoss und übernimmt z.B. das tägliche Kochen, die Wäsche und die Planung und Einhaltung sämtlicher Termine meines Bruders(Ärzte, Fahrdienste, Therapien, ...).

Mein Mann und ich kümmern uns u.a. um die Bürokratie - Versicherungen, Anträge, Verordnungen,...

Wir sind mehr als froh, dass mein Bruder nach wie vor zuhause leben kann, auch und vor allem weil er hier ein tolles Umfeld hat.

Er hat tolle Nachbarn und ich wohne mit meinem Mann und unseren zwei kleinen Kindern ebenfalls in derselben Straße.

Meine Kinder bereiten ihm oft sehr viel Freude und pushen ihn immer mal wieder, am Ball zu bleiben und weiter zu trainieren.

Aber jetzt ist er finanziell einfach am Ende. Seine Kredite laufen natürlich weiter und sind erst zum Bruchteil abbezahlt, die Kosten für den Pflegedienst sind Anfang des Jahres erneut gestiegen.

Beim großen Außenlift steht eine große Reparatur an, die ihn ca. 3.000€ kosten wird.

Ohne Unterstützung kann mein Bruder die ganzen Kosten einfach nicht mehr stemmen.

Genau genommen konnte er das noch nie.

Es sind schon so viele private Ersparnisse von den engsten Familienmitgliedern eingeflossen und trotzdem reicht es einfach nicht.

Trotzdem kommt man gegen diese ganzen Rechnungen, die ständig ins Haus kommen, einfach nicht mehr an.

Unser großer Wunsch ist es, einfach sämtliche seiner Schulden so schnell es geht zu begleichen, damit diese psychische Belastung für ihn und uns endlich aus dem Weg geräumt werden kann.

Der Alltag meines Bruders wird nie mehr so sein, wie er mal war.

Das ist uns bewusst.

Sein Leben spielt sich aufgrund der körperlichen Verfassung zu 90% zuhause ab.

Um ihm und uns nach all diesen Jahren endlich mal wieder eine Auszeit dieses immer noch neuen Alltags ermöglichen zu können, würden wir ihm außerdem gerne eine pflegerisch organisierte und komplett behindertengerechte Reise ermöglichen.

Aber auch dafür fehlt natürlich das Geld!

Wir sind also wirklich für jeden Euro, den er gespendet bekommt, dankbar und wir bedanken uns jetzt schon ganz, ganz herzlich für das Lesen unserer Geschichte.

My brother Alex had a very severe stroke six years ago at the age of 40.

We had to face a long and hard battle - operations, intensive care, setbacks from for example meningitis and infections, half a year of hospitalization and several months in rehab.

He had to start from scratch, learn everything from the beginning (breathing, swallowing, talking...) and cheated death several times.

Nevertheless, paralysis of the left side of the body and cognitive impairment have remained.

My brother can no longer master his everyday life alone.

Through hard work, a lot of help from friends and acquaintances and by using private savings and borrowing, we managed to adapt his apartment on the 1st floor as quickly as possible to the needs of disabled people in a wheelchair.

A large outdoor facility for a wheelchair lift and another wheelchair lift within his apartment was built and installed.

These lifts cost round about €30,000 and must be serviced annually (each 300-500€/maintenance).

In addition, the room doors had to be widened and the bathroom completely gutted and converted into a bathroom for disabled people.

In addition, there are the ongoing costs for the care service, which still has to come 3-4 times a day, home visits for nail care, livelihood, etc.

Our mum, 75 years old, lives on the ground floor and, for example, takes care of his daily cooking, his laundry and planning and keeping all my brother's appointments (doctors, driving services, therapies, ...).

My husband and I take care of bureaucracy - insurance, applications, regulations,...

We are deeply grateful that my brother can live at home, also and above all because he has a great social circle over here.

He has wonderful neighbors and my husband, our two young children and I also live on the same street.

My children give him a lot of joy and motivate him every now and then to keep going and keep up with his training.

But now he has truly reached the end of his financial rope. His loans, of course, are still running and are only paid off at a fraction, the cost of his home care service went up again earlier this year.

On top of that the large outdoor lift requires a major repair that will cost approximately €3.000.

Without help my brother simply can no longer cover all these costs.

In fact, he never could.

So much of the family's savings have already gone into supporting him, and yet it's not enough.

-

Our biggest wish is to pay off all his debts as quickly as possible so that this constant mental burden can finally be removed, for him and for us.

-

We are aware that my brother's everyday life will never be the same.

His life takes place at home 90% due to his physical condition.

After all these years we would love to give him - and ourselves - a chance for a proper break from this new reality by organizing a fully disabled-friendly journey with professional care included.

But of course there is also a lack of money for things like that!

So we are really grateful for every donation he receives and we would like to thank you very, very much for reading our story.
