On Friday May 6th, the Schweigert familys life changed dramatically. Josh went to urgent care because he had been experiencing trouble breathing for about a week. He believed it was just allergies or a virus. Doctors quickly discovered that Josh was suffering from some very serious heart issues. His heart was enlarged, there was fliud around his heart, there was an issue with a valve, and he had a aneurysm.

 

Thankfully Josh is having surgery today. It is a very major heart surgery. They are planning on performing an aortic root replacement, removing the aneurysm, and checking other arteries around the heart. Doctors expect him to remain in the hospital for a couple of weeks but the overall recovery will be a couple of months.

 

His loving wife Erica has been by his side this entire time. Both Josh and Erica will need to take some time off work during Josh's recovery.
