Education for orphans in Cape Town's largest township
Donation protected
Hello everyone, we are Baphumelele Children’s Home, the largest orphanage in Khayelitsha, a township in Cape Town. It is home to 115 orphans who no longer have parents or come from difficult backgrounds. Some were abandoned or lived on the streets, but here in Baphumelele they have found a safe haven.
The children's home was founded by Rosie Mashale, Mama Rosie, an incredible woman who started caring for children without homes as early as 1989. Even former South African President Nelson Mandela visited Baphumelele in 1997 because he knew how important this place was.
But as safe as the orphanage is, when it comes to education, it lacks everything.
Every day we see children with broken shoes or even without socks. Some don't have enough exercise books or pens - things that many take for granted. Education is their only chance to get out of the township. But without the right clothes and too few school materials, this way is made more difficult.
We want to change this - and you can help!
With your donation, we ensure that every child receives school uniforms and all the school materials they need for their lessons. You can even become a sponsor and help give them a real chance at education and life in the long term.
Help us - to make a future possible for the children of Baphumelele, because every child has a right to education!
