Abigail and Bobbi were thrilled to start this next chapter in their lives, starting a family, the twins were due mid-June to early July.
March 21st 2021
Kalliope James Schulle was born at 10:23am weighing 1Lb 6oz.
Parker Brennan Schulle was born at 10:24am weighing 1Lb 10oz.
Birthing story:
Abigail and Bobbi checked in to Christus at 8am Sunday March 21st and were immediately sent up to labor and delivery upon arrival. Her contractions were about five minutes apart but escalated quickly to about two and half minutes apart. Being only 23 weeks and 2 days along, discussions began about trying to slow down or stop labor, during this another strong contraction hit, Abigail asked if she could use the restroom. (Most of you who have given birth must remember this feeling)
The nurse promptly checks her cervix to find her 10 centimeters dilated by 9:15am. An emergency csection was performed. Bobbi, Karla (Abigail’s mom) and Debbie (Bobbi’s mom) waited in their suite while Abigail delivered the babies. Up to this point sweet baby A’s gender had not been revealed via ultrasound but SHE would be born first, bringing moms’ dreams true in welcoming both a little girl and little boy into the world.
Shortly after their arrival, the twins were transported separately via helicopter to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio from New Braunfels. Moms and babies briefly got to meet before being sent for the best care possible. Bobbi would stay with Abigail until she was released on Tuesday.
Twins Update:
Parker Brennan was surrounded by his loving moms and grandparents when he was called home to Heaven around 8pm on the night of Tuesday March 23rd 2021.
Kalliope “Kalli” James has fought so hard, with baby brother as her guardian angel, she’s feisty and full of personality. Right after her very first Easter, she opened her eyes for the first time on April 6th to see her moms smiling down. Currently Kalli is almost three weeks post op from a laparotomy and sporting an ostomy bag for now. She’s working hard on her lungs, requiring less help each day. She’s had her first diaper change, bath and bed changes. Most recently she’s been cleared to start receiving feedings. She has numerous hurtles to overcome and she’ll meet each milestone with tenacity. This is a day to day situation and there’s no plan to share with everyone, though a simplification would be, hopefully Kalliope could graduate from the NICU around her gestational 40 week date.
Four times (or every six hours) is the best time of day when both moms help the nurse with hands on care. It’s a time for routine checks on Kalli’s skin, incisions, temperature, gas levels and of course, diaper changes. This is also a special moment when a qtip with milk is set in Kalli’s mouth and she chomps down and enjoys the nourishment. Multiple meetings with all of the great doctors happen daily, viewing her lung xrays and going over the options and game plans for how to help her along. While Kalliope is really small, moms are able to give her ‘hand hugs’ or containment. Baby girl does wave her hands and feet, grasping when mom puts a finger in her little hand.
Moms Update:
The family has been blessed to be able stay with Kalliope courtesy of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. While still in uncharted waters and coping with all of the challenges new parents face, being at the NICU full time is a huge factor in setting their new normal. Most plans surrounding the arrival of a bundle (or two) of joy can be stressful and go awry quickly, our sweet friends have had a more taxing journey as they have been catapulted into motherhood. Taking no moment with their babies for granted, there are stressors of the real world moving so quickly around them.
That is why we have set up this Go Fund Me, as a central place for Abigail and Bobbi’s friends and family to be able to bless them further. The goal value is purely a place holder, both Abigail and Bobbi have one goal and it's to be with their baby as she strives to graduate from the NICU.
At this time the expenses for a service for Parker are unknown, we thank you for respecting their privacy surrounding this.
Both moms are trying to get as much work done remotely as possible, to cover their ‘normal’ expenses as well as the unforeseen. The traditional needs of new parents is not a one size fits all and therefore we have set this up so that Abigail and Bobbi have a place for their loved ones to help, if able. Monetary donations aside, they both are so thankful for the gifts they have already received, the outpour of support via phone or Facebook, the prayers and tribe they know surrounds them. They have the most gratitude for the help their families and friends have already provided during these times. They are still in a very fragile situation and the duration is unknown.

A note from Abigail + Bobbi:
We hold each of you close to our hearts during this journey. We are beyond grateful for the nurses and doctors (entire medical staff and hospital) that we have had the pleasure of working with. All of the graciously sent gifts have been so thoughtful and we cannot wait to be home to enjoy them. We are asking at this time for your continued support and prayers. Thank you, thank you for everything everyone has done for us during this time. We’ll continue to try to make sure we return messages and post updates of our little girl. Thank you to our family, thank you to our friends, who are like family, we love you all so much.
