Schooling, Food & Education Supplies in Kano

Donation protected
Ahmed is a social activist from Nigeria whose life experiences have been shaped by the crippling effects of poverty. After losing his parents to sicknesses made unavoidable by malnutrition and the poor quality of food, water and waste management in his community, Ahmed has been determined to improve the lives of those around him.

The struggles Ahmed and his community face are huge. Life is made difficult by barriers like war, bandits, kidnapping, resource extraction, waste dumping, water pollution, and contagious diseases, to name a few. NGO’s promising to improve the lives of the most vulnerable are stifled by bureaucracy and corruption and benefits rarely actually make it to those who need it most.

That’s why Ahmed began his own NGO to provide essential school materials to children in his community to help them be able to attend school. Ahmed knows that ensuring these children can access education is the best way to break the cycles of poverty, hunger and suffering which his community is beset by.

Ahmed is currently in Scotland, where his NGO was sponsored to come and speak at COP26 and spread awareness about how those on the frontlines of climate change are affected by so many colliding factors from historical and current injustices. Whilst he is here, he is trying to get connected and raise funds for his NGO and needs as much support as he can to get funds back to his village.

The number value we have come up with covers the costs of providing pencils, exercise books, school bags, shoes and breakfasts to two hundred children in Ahmed’s community for one year. Having these resources means that children which would not be able to attend school, or even have one meal per day, can have the opportunity to do so.

Please give what you can, even the smallest amounts can mean that children can have daily access to desperately needed nutrition.

NB: on the behalf of Ahmed (and with him physically), we created this fundraiser through my details in France (David Annic), as GoFundMe isn't currently operational in Nigeria. ALL FUNDS COLLECTED will be sent directly to Ahmed's Account in Kano through Western Union. Thanks for your understanding.
