My name is Riley Miller, and I’m in the 7th grade.  Next year I have the opportunity to take a class trip to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., and to New York City.  The trip is very expensive, and I have been saving money for the past several months from my birthday, holidays and doing extra chores for my mom and dad.  My family is also helping me by participating in some fundraising with the school.   I really want to take this trip because I want to see first hand the White House,  and incredible monuments like the Jefferson, Lincoln, World War II Veterans, Marine Corps, Vietnam Wall and Korean War Veterans memorials.  The trip also includes a visit to the 9/11 Memorial.  I think it's important to visit these places to remind us about American principles, virtues, history, and sacrifices many Americans have made for us.  Plus, my grandfathers and great uncle fought in some of these wars, and visiting the Veteran's memorials will be a great way to honor their service.  I hope you will help me towards my goal - even $1 helps and is very much appreciated.  Thank you.
