I grew up attending a small school in Los Llanos, Altamira, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. That school shaped who I am today, and I’ve always remembered the sense of community and hope it gave me. Recently, I learned that many of the students there are struggling because their families can’t afford the basic supplies they need to go to school and learn. It breaks my heart to think of children missing out on their education simply because they don’t have a backpack, notebook, or even a pencil.

I’ve already purchased 8 backpacks, 44 notebooks, and a pack of pencils and pens—enough so each student can get four pencils and two pens, and eight students will receive a backpack. But there are many more children who still need help. If I can raise enough funds, I’ll be able to buy 36 more backpacks so every student can have one, and 44 more notebooks so each child can have two. The funds will also help cover the shipping costs to get these supplies to the school.
