Fighting for My Future School Is Calling—Help Me Answer!

Hi! My name is Nija, I’m college student at Missouri State University. I'm proud to be continuing my family’s journey in higher education. My mom started college but wasn’t able to finish due to life circumstances, so finishing my degree isn’t just for me finishing my degree isn’t just an accomplishment of mines but one I know will make her proud !!!
I’m currently majoring in social work and education with a dream to become a healthcare advocate someone who stands up for people, especially youth, navigating medical systems and life challenges.
Eventually, I want to transition into becoming a middle school teacher or counselor, where I can continue to support students emotionally and mentally during some of the most important years of their lives. I want to be that person who sees them, believes in them, and helps them find their voice.
But right now, I’m at risk of having to leave school because of financial struggles. I’ve been denied for every private loan due to not having a cosigner. I’ve already accepted all the federal aid I’m eligible for, and I’ve been doing what I can-working, selling plates, applying for scholarships-but I’ve hit a financial wall.
I was already raising funds to help cover my school tuition But now, life has thrown something even harder at me.
The recent tornado that hit St. Louis destroyed my room at home. I had just come back from school and finished unpacking. Everything—my computer, Ipad , school supplies, dorm decor, bedding, shoes, and most of my clothes—was damaged or completely ruined. The few clothes I could save are soaked and smell awful from all the water damage.
Now I’m trying to do the impossible: rebuild everything I lost and still find a way to stay in school and finish my degree. It feels like the weight of the world, but I’m not giving up.
Every little bit helps me stay afloat, stay enrolled, and stay hopeful.
If you can give, I’m forever grateful. If not, just sharing this with someone who can means everything to me. Thank you for being part of my journey and helping me stay in school to create a better future not just for me, but for the people I hope to serve one day.
