School and Farm in the Hills . Transforming Lives
Donation protected
Dear Amazing Supporters,
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've raised over $15,000 from 115 donors—a huge milestone in our mission to bring education and workplace opportunites to a small rural community just outside Walapane, Sri Lanka.
Stage 1: A Classroom for Change
We're nearly finished building a classroom for 50 children who currently have no access to education due to economic, cultural, and religious barriers. This new space will offer a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment—opening the door to learning, confidence, and a brighter future.
Thank you for making this possible.
Stage 2: Growing a Sustainable Future
Next, we plan to purchase nearby land to grow crops like pepper and raise chickens. This small-scale farming project will provide employment for the local community and generate income for the school—helping it become self-sustaining.
Stage 3: Community-Funded by Culture and Tourism
We also aim to build two self-contained studio apartments above the school. These will be offered to travellers seeking an authentic experience of the region, with all proceeds reinvested into school operations and community projects.
Why Sri Lanka?
My journey with Sri Lanka began in 2004, following the Boxing Day Tsunami. I volunteered with Project Galle 2005, building greenhouses and grow bags for displaced families. During that time, I met two extraordinary people, Pubudu and Naomie, who have since devoted their lives to serving their community.
Five years ago, I purchased land beside their home to help create a self-sufficient educational centre—a place where hope, learning, and empowerment can thrive.
We're now reaching out once more to complete Stages 1 , 2 and 3 of this life-changing project. Every donation brings us one step closer to a future where children in Walapane have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
