This is Riham Khaled Abdalla Abu Eita. She is a 27 year-old primary school teacher who had just finished her studies and training when the genocide started. Now, she runs a school for well over 100 displaced children who shelter in the beach tents near Deir Al-Balah. She provides these children (mostly orphans with no existing family member) with a safe and structured learning environment from 8am-1pm, 6 days a week. Here they learn to read and write, do arts and crafts and play games and are given a meal (for many, it's the only meal of their day). Reham needs help securing food and educational supplies for her students in an increasingly unstable and violent environment as she seeks to expand her school to include even more extremely needy children.

My name is Laura Pinho. I live in Los Angeles, California. I am the grant writer for A Just Peace, a grant funded in 2025 by the United Methodist Church that seeks to amplify Palestinian voices and works to advocate for Palestinian rights through monthly education, action and fundraising events at my church (Chatsworth West UMC). I met Reham in early 2024 through mutual friends on Facebook and donated to her through a prior fundraising account that helped her provide food for her family. Reham and I have had multiple video calls since, where she has video-called me from her fledgling school to have the children say "hello!" and will do the same for anyone who requests it. This school was born out of her desire to keep these children out of harm's way and give them some semblance of normal in an absolutely unacceptably abnormal world. I keep in regular contact with her and will wire whatever funds collected here directly to her Bank of Palestine account. Please help Reham give these children the only stable and nurturing environment they have. I can verify that she is using funds donated for food and school supplies for her students, and can send anyone who donates verification of this upon request.
