Hi, my name is Athanasia, and my sister is Raven.
We are fundraising for my mom, Mary Arencibia. She was hit by a car on her way to work as a Cross Guard for Del Valle Elementary and Middle School. She was struck in the morning, and the hospital put her in Critical Condition. She had too much brain damage, and couldn't sustain her own breathing. The Doctors advised us to take her off life support because she was not going to get better.
I finally convinced my Sister to move back home to Austin about Five months ago. She had been away with her kids for about Thirteen Years. My Mom Mary and I were finally able too see her, and her Three boys. My Sister cried, because she just came back and it wasn't enough time. Our family was left broken, because my Mom couldn't spend her first Halloween or Christmas with her grandchildren.
My Mom was always so social. She would make sure she had a cute outfit on, and hated being stuck at home. She had so much life in her, no matter how much pain she felt in her body. It's hard for me to think how someone just carelessly came along,r and took away what time we had with her.
She loved to dance. She went to church every weekend. She loved to wear fancy hats. She liked being a cross guard.
My Sister just enrolled her kids in the schools our Mom Mary worked as a Cross Guard at so she would be there to pick them up after her shift. She would get off work and walk over to the schools she worked at, and my Sister's kids would be ready for pick up and they would go home.
Now my Sister's kids have to be in Extend-A-Care. She's forced to pay all my Mom's house bills, and the new Extend-A-Care bills. My Sister applied for the Extend-A-Care lottery payment help, but she has not heard back yet. With Three boys, plus the house bills, she is working painstakingly hard to cover my Mom's expenses. I'm trying to help her, but we are frustrated.
We are waiting to hear back from the Police Investigation when it closes, but they are telling us that the guy who hit, and killed our mom will only get tickets for No Registration, No Insurance, and No Driver's License.
Now, my Mom doesn't even get justice! We are here struggling to deal with these feelings. I know God is good all the time. My Mom was a woman of faith. We try to remember that.
Thank you for taking the time to read this... Hugs. 1 <3
