For the last 10 years, this family has gone through a number of health issues. What started as joint pain, IBS, flu-like symptoms, migraines, shortness of breath, chest pains and tingling in their bodies has lead to so many other issues.
After going from specialist to specialist only to find no answers but leaving with more medicines (and bills) that didn't work, they finally decided to try the functional medicine route. This was a blessing because the doctor suggested that they get their house tested for mold. The test results came back with off the charts mold levels, so they immediately took action to get it removed. Three months later, and it's back.
They are currently investigating to find the root cause while ripping up carpet in the main areas and throwing away toasters, dressers, tools, toys, grand piano, etc. To live in a home that keeps making them sick is heartbreaking for anyone especially when they have 2 young children (10 and 7) and to add to the heartache, their home owners insurance doesn't cover mold services and all the other services that are being performed.
Their medical bills have racked up over the past 10 years because of all of their ailments and not finding out what the problem was. Tera is currently spending countless dollars a month on supplements to aid in detoxing their bodies from the mold. She was advised not to work, so Mike is providing for the entire family. He also had Lyme disease within the last year and never missed a day of work. It goes to show where his heart is.
Seneca is a brain surgery warrior (Chiari Malformation surgery at 3 1/2 years old) so they are still paying that medical debt off. Brycen spent most of the school year in the nurses office not feeling well. He had routine testing for medical issues at Children's hospital in Pittsburgh (1.5 hours away) and found no answers. His next test was going to be a scope and colonoscopy, but then the house was tested for mold.
A big thank you goes out to the staff at the Jefferson County Christian School. While at school, Brycen spent many months in the bathroom and on a cot they had for him in the office when he wasn't felling well. They went above and beyond to take care of him and make him comfortable.
This is the type of family that will give their shirts off their backs and not ask for anything in return. They donate a percentage of Mike's salary and give to their church and local charities even when they are shelling out thousands a month on medical bills, house issues and their day-to-day living expenses.
Any amount you contribute will make a huge difference in relieving some of the burden this family is feeling - while letting them know that they are not in this fight alone.
** PLEASE DO NOT LET THE SCHOLL FAMILY KNOW ABOUT THIS GOFUND ME CAMPAIGN!!! We want to give them the donated money for Christmas as a surprise!! If you want your name listed on the card that will be presented, please attach it with your donation.
