Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship

Mr. Brown meant so much to so many people.
He began teaching math at Broadview Middle School to fill a hole. He was the kind of teacher who was very structured and had high expectations--and his students thrived in his classroom. He routinely came in to school on Saturdays to work with students who needed an extra push. His teaching methods were unique--he knew where every student stood in his subject and worked tirelessly to teach each student as the individual that they were. He was consistent in his approach and relentless in his belief that students would reach the goal they each had set.
Students knew that Mr. Brown believed in them and that he would see them through to their goal.
We don't know of a better way to honor this man than through a scholarship fund for students graduating each year from Cummings High School.
Our long term goal is to raise $25,000 to make this an endlessly recurring scholarship of $1,000 for a student each year. Our immediate goal is $1,000 for this year's graduate.
We are setting up the following committees to ensure the success of the Robert Brown Scholarship Fund:
1. Steering Committee (make the integral decisions for the scholarship fund)
2. Events and Fundraising Committee (help secure the funds necessary for the scholarship)
3. Awards Committee (create the application; read applications in a blind selection process; plan awards ceremony)
4. Mentor Committee (follow up quarterly with Robert Brown Scholars along their educational journey)
