My name is Jennifer Garcia, a home and hospital teacher at Duarte Unified School District. I serve special needs students in the West San Gabriel Area who cannot attend school due to their medical needs and fragility.

After teaching in the classroom for several years, I started my new journey as a home & hospital teacher in October 2021. My first student was Valentina Marroquin, a sweet, loving, observant, and strong 4-year-old. Even after several hospital visits, Valentina continued to fight and show others around her how to be brave. She taught many around her, including me, to enjoy every moment in life, big or small, and that love has no words.

I'd love to keep her spirit and memory alive by giving a senior high school student a scholarship. All funds will be used as scholarships for students at Monrovia High School pursuing careers in education or social work.

The scholarship name is THE VALENTINA MARROQUIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.
