Scholarship Fund in Memory of Armin Saatchi
Donation protected
In memory of Armin Saatchi, a Memorial Award is being established to provide funding for students studying in the Chemistry Department at Vancouver Island University.
The annual scholarship will be awarded to students based on their research ability, citizenship and leadership experience. An endowment will be donated by his family, who are behind raising the funds.
Armin was a dedicated academic who passed away prior to defending his M.Sc. in Chemistry, working with Professor Chris Gill. He was a key contributor to the creation and implementation of HarmCheck—an initiative to support harm reduction drug checking efforts on Vancouver Island, and beyond. His contributions to the ongoing public health emergency and overdose crisis are carried on by his collaborators. Armin was incredibly passionate about his work and committed to helping others succeed in the lab and beyond. A scholarship would pay tribute to his strong beliefs in community support and collective learning.
This fund is one effective way to keep his memory alive; any amount is appreciated!
Thank you,
