Hi, it’s Lexy
I’ve always been drawn to beauty—not just the products, but the way it allows people to express themselves and feel more confident in who they are. What started as a personal interest grew into something much bigger as I began helping others navigate their own skincare and makeup journeys.
Even in high school, I was fascinated by ingredients and once dreamed of becoming a cosmetic chemist. I’ve always loved understanding how products work and how different elements come together to create something effective and personal.
For years, I tried to follow a more traditional path. I built corporate experience through internships every summer in high school and college, worked part-time throughout university, and spent four years after graduating in HR and Talent Acquisition. Along the way, I developed a strong foundation in administrative work, project management, and people operations. That experience has prepared me to build something of my own—but it wasn’t until I returned to the beauty space that I reconnected with my passion and saw a clear path forward.
While working full-time, I started part-time at Ulta Beauty—and everything clicked. I fell in love with helping people find products that truly work for them and guiding them through routines that feel authentic to who they are. I quickly grew from Beauty Advisor into leadership roles, gaining hands-on experience and confidence in my ability to serve others in this space.
In 2024, I made the decision to fully commit to this path.
Now, I’m ready to take the next step: attending cosmetology school to become licensed, deepen my technical skills, and expand what I can offer. My goal isn’t just to work in beauty—it’s to build a business rooted in education, personalization, and inclusion.
I want to create spaces where Black, Brown, and Queer individuals feel seen, understood, and supported—and where beauty feels like something you can define for yourself.
The total cost of school is about $15,000. I’ve secured approximately $7,000 in student loans and am actively applying for scholarships and grants. I’m raising funds to help cover the remaining tuition, supplies, licensing costs, and essential startup tools like a laptop and professional equipment.
To secure my spot in the May cohort, I need $800 by Monday, April 27th . (If I’m unable to meet that deadline, I’ll re-apply and hope to start with the June cohort.) Reaching this goal means I can begin sooner and stay on track toward building my career and business.
If you’re able to contribute or share, I truly appreciate it. This is the final step in turning years of passion, experience, and intention into something sustainable and impactful.
Thank you for being part of my journey
— Lexy
