INTRODUCTION
Hi, my name is Lilly Smith, and I am a special education teacher at P.S. 273 Q. I am excited to present a proposal aimed at celebrating the creative talents of my first-grade scholars to have their poetry published in a book format. Poetry is not only a form of creative expression, but also a valuable tool for language development and literacy skills. This project seeks to provide our young poets with a platform to showcase their work, promote literacy, and inspire a love for writing and creativity.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The proposed project involves compiling poetry written by our 50 wonderful first-grader scholars from P.S. 273 Q into a professionally published book. The book will serve as a platform for our amazing scholars to share their joy of writing, but also to instill in them a sense of confidence and self-expression.
WHY PUBLISH FIRST GRADE POETRY?
Empowerment: Publishing their poetry in a book format validates the efforts and accomplishments of our first-grade scholars, empowering them to see their work in print and share it with others with pride.
Literacy Promotion: Creating a tangible product such as a poetry book encourages a love for reading and writing, reinforcing literacy skills in an engaging and meaningful way.
Community Engagement: A published poetry book serves as a point of pride for our school community, showcasing the talent and creativity of our young learners and fostering a sense of unity and support; engaging parents, educators, and community members in supporting our students’ creative endeavors and celebrating their achievements.
Long-term Impact: The experience of having their poetry published instills a sense of accomplishment and confidence in our students, laying the foundation for future academic and personal success.
GOAL
We are seeking $2,000.00 to support the publication of 50 first-grade poetry books. The funds will enable us to cover the costs associated with production from Student Treasures book company. This will also ensure that our students have the opportunity to see their poetry come to life in a professionally published format.
CONCLUSION
By supporting the publication of a poetry book featuring the works of our first-grade scholars, you are investing in the future of our students and promoting literacy and creativity within our community. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to share their voice and be celebrated for their unique talents, and with your support, we can make this vision a reality.
Thank you for your contributions. Together, we can inspire a love for literature, empower young writers, and create a lasting impact on the lives of our first-grade scholars.
Sincerely,
Lilly Smith
