Schöne Momente für Familie mit krebskranker Mama

Die Geschichte von Kira (33) und Aidan (32) könnte aus einem Buch oder Film stammen.

Mit Anfang 20 verlieben die Beiden sich, als Kira in Aidans Heimat Neuseeland einen Auslandsaufenthalt verbringt – Beide fühlen, dass es die ganz große Liebe ist und Aidan beschließt, für Kira am anderen Ende der Welt neu anzufangen.

Sie ziehen zusammen nach Köln, schließen ihre Ausbildungen ab (Gymnasiallehrerin und Software Developer) und bauen sich ihr gemeinsames Leben auf. Sie wissen, dass sie miteinander das große Los gezogen haben.

Das Leben ist perfekt - aber dann erkrankt Kira an Brustkrebs. Mit gerade einmal 25 Jahren. Tapfer steht sie die harte Behandlung durch und muss in ihrem viel zu jungen Alter, während Andere feiern und das Leben genießen, um ihr Leben kämpfen. Aidan ist immer an ihrer Seite und Kira besiegt den Krebs.

Der Krankheit setzen die Beiden die Lebenslust und die Liebe füreinander entgegen, sie heiraten und das Glück wird perfekt durch die Geburt ihres ersten Sohnes im Jahr 2019 abgerundet.

Im Januar 2022 kommt das nächste Söhnchen zur Welt und die kleine Familie ist voller Freude über das neue Mitglied. Die Flüge für Mai 22 nach Neuseeland sind bereits gebucht, gemeinsam wollen sie Zeit in Aidans Heimatland verbringen und den Kindern besondere Erlebnisse als Familie ermöglichen.

Noch im Wochenbett tastet Kira einen Knoten in ihrer Brust. Der Krebs ist zurück.

Was eine Chemotherapie und alle damit einhergehenden Ängste und Sorgen, mit Neugeborenem und Kleinkind bedeutet, muss man niemandem erklären.

Kira und Aidan sind trotz dieser massiven Krise uneingeschränkt und liebevoll für ihre Kinder und füreinander da, passen sich allen Widrigkeiten an und kämpfen gemeinsam.

Die langwierige Behandlung beginnt, während die gemeinsamen Pläne und Träume auf Eis gelegt werden.

Die Hoffnung auf Heilung und der unbändige Wille, für ihre Kinder da zu sein, lässt Kira alle Qualen erdulden.

Im August erfolgt die Amputation der erkrankten Brust. Kira erholt sich von der OP und Alles sieht gut aus, bis nur vier Wochen später die niederschmetternde Diagnose folgt: Der Krebs hat gestreut, die Hoffnung auf Heilung ist zerplatzt.

Kira und Aidan sehen sich nun mit der Prognose konfrontiert, dass von einer weiteren Überlebenszeit von maximal zwei Jahren auszugehen ist, unter stetig weiterlaufender Chemotherapie.

Das Ausmaß dieser Katastrophe für die Eltern und die beiden kleinen Kinder ist unvorstellbar und bricht uns als Freunden das Herz.

Geld kann keine gebrochenen Herzen heilen, aber es kann Sorgen nehmen und gemeinsame Zeit ermöglichen.

Aidan und Kira möchten jeden gemeinsamen Moment miteinander nutzen und so viele Erinnerungen wie möglich für die Kinder schaffen. Ein großer Traum ist es, doch noch einmal gemeinsam nach Neuseeland zu reisen.

Ein finanzieller Puffer kann zudem dafür eingesetzt zu werden, Erleichterungen im Alltag anzuschaffen, die nicht von der Krankenkasse abgedeckt werden. Zudem besteht die Hoffnung, dass Kira durch die Teilnahme an einer Studie, welche einen ca. 11000 Euro teuren Test erfordert, dessen Übernahme durch die Krankenkasse noch nicht sicher ist, mehr Lebenszeit erhält.

Um all diese Dinge sollte man sich keinen Kopf machen müssen, wenn einem diese enorme Last auf den Schultern liegt und wenn einem die Zeit davonläuft.

Wir als Freunde möchten Kira und Aidan mit eurer Unterstützung am liebsten tausende schöne, möglichst sorgenfreie Momente schenken und wenigstens die finanzielle Last etwas mindern.

Making memories – young family with a mother suffering from cancer is hoping for many more precious moments together

The story of Kira (33) and Aidan (32) could have come from a book or film.

In their early 20s the two fall in love when Kira visits Aidan's native New Zealand - they both feel that it is true love and Aidan decides to start anew for Kira on the other side of the world.

They move to Cologne, Germany, together, complete their training (high school teacher and software developer) and build their lives together. They feel they have hit the jackpot.

Life is perfect - but then Kira gets breast cancer. At just 25 years old. Bravely she endures the harsh treatment and at her much too young age she must fight for her life while others celebrate and enjoy their lives. Aidan is always by her side and Kira beats cancer.

The two resist the illness with a passion for life and their love for each other, they get married and their happiness is completed with the birth of their first son in 2019.

In January 2022 their next son is born and the small family is over the moon about the arrival of the new member. The flights for May 22 to New Zealand are already booked, they want to spend time together as a family in Aidan's home country.

Only 10 days after birthing her baby boy, Kira feels a lump in her breast. The cancer is back.

You don't have to explain to anyone what chemotherapy and all the associated fears and worries mean for new parents with a baby and a toddler.

Despite this massive crisis, Kira and Aidan are wholeheartedly and lovingly there for their children and for each other, they adapt to all adversities and fight together.

The lengthy treatment begins while shared plans and dreams are put on hold.

The hope of healing and the irrepressible will to be there for her children allows Kira to endure all the torment.

The diseased breast is amputated in August. Kira is recovering from the operation and everything is looking good until the devastating diagnosis follows just four weeks later: the cancer has spread, the hope of a cure is shattered.

Kira and Aidan are now confronted with the prognosis that a further survival time of a maximum of two years can be assumed, with ongoing chemotherapy.

The scale of this disaster for the parents and two young children is unimaginable and heartbreaking for us as friends.

Money can't heal broken hearts, but it can take away worries and make more time together possible.

Aidan and Kira want to share every moment together and create as many memories for the kids as possible. One of their big dreams would be to take their family to New Zealand.

A financial buffer can also be used to make everyday life easier and to afford things that are not covered by health insurance. There is also hope that Kira will live longer by participating in a study that requires a test costing around 11,000 euros, which health insurance may not cover.

All these things shouldn't be something to worry about when you have this enormous burden on your shoulders and when you're running out of time.

We as friends would like to give Kira and Aidan thousands of beautiful, carefree moments and with your support at least reduce the financial burden a bit.
