As many of you have heard our brother was in a horrific motorcycle accident just a few days ago.

His survival story is nothing short of a miracle.

The accident resulted in him being rushed to the ER with obvious serious injuries. His sister happened to be working in the ER where he was to arrive. She got word he was coming in by ambulance and met him at the doors to see him and let him know she was there with him before he was immediately taken for a body scan to see the extent of his injures, there they found his stomach full of blood which indicated serious internal bleeding, he was then rushed to emergency surgery.

While family arrived one after the other we filled the waiting room hugging, hoping and praying for good news. Several agonizing hours later a surgeon came out to tell us the extent of the injuries they found.

To start he has multiple breaks in his leg that involved his femur, tibia and fibula. The most pressing injury they found and needed addressed immediately was the internal bleeding which was caused by a ruptured spleen which is life threatening if not addressed within a very short window.

They removed his spleen and tried their best to stop the bleeding but things were still very critical as they continued to work on him. They had to stabilize his broke leg and address the bleeding from the femur break but could not fully repair his leg until the extent of his stomach injuries were known and addressed. He was to be placed in a room until morning when they could do surgery again and make sure the removal of the spleen had stopped the bleeding. So we waited some more.

Finally, the doors open and someone is headed to give us another update, but not the update we were hoping for.... he was still bleeding. They were working as hard as they could to get it under control but still, his bleeding wouldn't stop. We now understand that he had his whole blood volume replaced twice as they gave him donor blood, one bag after the other to replace the rapid blood loss. They called mom and dad back to see him and to be filled in on what they were doing to try and save him. The waiting room was now silent chaos as everyone was now crying, pacing, praying, which felt a lot more like begging....and waiting.

Taking turns looking at him through the room window we watched the amazing ICU team do their thing. Spouting off numbers and medications, hooking up bags and tubes. All we could do was watch and

wait for something to turn a corner.

Finally after what felt like days but was only hours they got him stable. No sigh of relief was breathed though. He was not even close to being out of the woods. Would he make it another hour, would he make it through the night? Somehow, against all odds he did, and with that came the next step of a second surgery to assess the extent of the injuries in his abdomen, to make sure his bleeding fully stopped and to address his femur break.

Please let him make it through the surgery.

Again, he pulled through.

Multiple broken bones in his leg, fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, internal bleeding, extreme blood loss... This guy is a fighter and everyone including the surgeons, the ICU team and everyone in between is amazed he is still with us.

We are still in awe of the team that cared for and continues to care for him, and the rapid response of everyone involved from the very beginning.

When the accident took place several people rushed to his aid including a police officer that happened to be nearby, an employee from a restaurant near by, someone who witnessed the accident, and the first responders, without their immediate help, one mistake, one delay, and this story could have a very different ending.

The bleeding has stopped, his leg now has rods placed in them to heal his broken bones, he is stable and has been moved a step down from the ICU into another unit for continued support and care. As we take it day by day we are hopeful he will pull out of this but he has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. Extensive hospital stays, a rehab facility where he will receive physical and occupational therapy, pain management, appointments to assess his ongoing needs and make sure injuries are healing properly, and more.

He is a loving, thoughtful, hardworking STRONG boy who has his whole life ahead of him. We hope and pray that before long he will be back to winning trap shooting competitions, hunting, smiling and playing with his nieces and nephews, bonding with his siblings, working, planning his future and most importantly hugging his mom and dad.

We set up this donation page to help ease the stress so mom and dad can be off work and be by his side through the intensive care he will need for the foreseeable future.

We are still completely in awe of the cascade of miracles that have taken place in order for him to be here with us still and are so beyond thankful.

Yesterday he was moved from the trauma recovery unit back in the ICU to receive the adequate care needed for his recovery. While this seems like a step back, we are so thankful that he is being cared for in the best way possible. He is working so hard to make progress and get out of there as quickly as possible as he wants to go home ❤️

He received another pint of blood today to keep replenishing his body. We got the numbers and did the math and he has received a total of 22 units of blood product throughout this whole ordeal

For comparison a person donates about a unit (16oz) each time they donate. Shines a whole new light on the importance of donating blood. We are forever thankful for all of the blood donors that contributed to the saving of our brother.

It's going to take some time for him to process just how much trauma his body has been through, but right now his focus is on making the progress that he needs to in order to be able to eat the chicken from raising canes that he is so desperately craving!

He is impressing everyone with just how strong he has been through all of this and continues to be ❤️

*UPDATE* 07/29/2025

It's offically been 1 week since the accident and we are happy to announce that my brother is now home!

He made it back out of the ICU and spent a day in the trauma recovery unit and somehow completed the check list of things he had to do in order to be able to be discharged and was sent home yesterday.

Needless to say, this week has been alot for my family to process. To go from the state he was in last Tuesday, to home again within a week has us all astonished but unbelievably thankful!

He has loads of outpatient appointments and at-home exercises to do. It will be quite a while until he's back on his feet but he's been so strong and sweet through this whole thing.

Thank you to everyone asking how my brother is doing

Here is an update from my mom and dad.

"Update on 12 days home: Seth is slowly healing. His body has been through a lot so he's tired and rests alot. He isn't back in his own room yet as navigating stairs often would be too much for now. We are all trying to get his appetite back up to gain strength and to aid healing. So the focus is on pain management, taking in calories and some flexing and stretching exersizes he has to work up to. We had the first of many follow up appointments this past week. He was reminded by every doctor and nurse involved in his care , as well as by some visits of people who helped at the scene how incredibly serious and how miraculous it is that he is here. We very much appreciate all who have helped , made meals, prayed and contributed . Please pray for his body, mind & spirit to heal and to remain strong and hopeful during this long, intense recovery. It is going to be a rough recovery but as we saw a sign in physical therapy evaluation today that said "stronger than yesterday" so that'll be our motivation for now. "
