Scarlett’s life with Ushers

Donation protected

Hi my name is Scarlett and I am 4 years old, I was born with Ushers syndrome and will be starting reception in September.

Ushers syndrome is a condition which affects hearing, eyesight and balance.

I was born profoundly deaf in both in ears and was fitted with cochlear implants at 1 year old. Recently we have found out that my eyesight is starting to deteriorate and I need to start wearing glasses.

There is no cure for my eyesight, it will begin to affect my night vision and pheripheral vision initially and it may result it complete loss of my eyesight in the future.

I require a tablet and keyboard to help with me learning to ‘touch type’ to support my learning and education in school and at home. My hearing age is already 1 year 1 month behind my peers. This is an expensive but necessary piece of equipment which will support me greatly.

My disability money would usually be used to fund equipment like this. However this was stopped a few months ago as I am a normal and functioning child when wearing my cochlear implants.

Please can you support me by donating what you can to help fund the tablet and keyboard. Every penny counts! And it will aid me in my learning and development.

I am beautiful! I am resilient! I am brave! I am loved and cared for my so many people!
