On June 10, our dear friends Melanie and Garret welcomed their daughter, Scarlett June, into the world.

We’re heartbroken to share that baby Scarlett passed away on Saturday June 28 after a brave and beautiful fight in the NICU. Born at just 26 weeks, Scarlett defied the odds every day of her life with strength, spirit, and resilience. Her time here was short, but it was filled with love, connection, and the unwavering devotion of her parents, Melanie and Garret.

Scarlett's passing was due to a complication from a collapsed heart valve—an outcome no one could have predicted, even as she continued to reach early milestones and show incredible promise. Her parents were by her side, surrounding her with tenderness, courage, and care.

We want to thank every one of you who has supported this family—through donations, meals, messages, and quiet prayers. Your generosity helped lift a profound burden during some of the most fragile and precious moments of Scarlett’s life.

As Melanie and Garret begin to grieve and heal, they are now facing not only emotional devastation but the practical realities of missed work, funeral costs, and recovery time ahead. We are continuing this fundraiser to ease that path, allowing them space to mourn without financial strain.
