Scarlett Got Hit By A Car

On May 10, 2021, a teenager with no license and no insurance t-boned my Honda Fit head on and crumpled my entire right side. I chose not to call the police because the kid was black and no car is worth a human life. She is safe and unharmed, which is a relief, but this has also left me with thousands of dollars to pay.

The car is totaled, but more than that, CarMax overcharged me for my car by $2,700 and will not apply the insurance payout until I have paid $2,700, which is the difference between what my car is worth and what I owe on it.

I have added an additional $2,300 so that I can put a down payment on a new car. I don’t have coverage for a rental car. As it stands, I am currently using my stepdad’s SUV, which is very expensive to maintain, especially with the current price of gas.

Medical bills are covered by insurance, but I did have to hire an attorney. There may be some money that comes of this, but it will take months, if at all.

I appreciate any and all help that anyone can give. I intended to have my little car for 10-15 years, but now I have to pay the money to say goodbye to it and find a new one.
