Donations for Scarlet's Immigration fees
Donation protected
Hi my name is Steven Houser, I am Scarlet's husband. I've happily been by Scarlet's side for almost 10 years through thick and thin. I am opening up this fundraiser asking for help in our most difficult time.
In December 2022, Scarlet and I applied for adjustment of status for her immigration to move forward, and start the process of getting her marriage green card. We worked with this company called, Boundless. They helped us fill out all of the information for filing, and had lawyers to help review all of the paperwork. Boundless then put all of our information and records together in a big packet and we sent it off to the government for review.
Everything was going well. Scarlet and I were summoned to the Des Moines USCIS immigration office in January for her biometrics screening (aka taking her fingerprints). Then in July, our relationship was approved by the government and our final step was for Scarlet to get a physical exam which included an out-of-pocket doctor visit, multiple shots and blood analysis. We just had to wait on USCIS to request the exam from us as our final step in the process. The approval was one of our happiest moment of our lives. We watched our mailbox everyday waiting for the next letter from USCIS in the mail.
On November 28th, we received a notice of denial with some tragic news that our entire case was being closed due to us not receiving a letter in the mail that informed us that we had 87 days to complete the physical exam and send it to USCIS. Along with our case being closed, they also informed us that Scarlet's work visa will be revoked in 18 days and since the letter was sent during Thanksgiving week by the time we received the letter we only had 9 days left. Her last day to work will be December 8th.
With Scarlet out of work, this means our household went from two incomes down to one until we are able to have the government reissue another work visa for Scarlet. To be issued another work visa, we have to reapply and repay fees to Boundless and the government that we have previously already paid. Last year, we applied in December and were approved in July so sadly we are expecting her to be out of work for that long.
If you know anything about Scarlet, you know she is beautiful caring person inside and out. Willing to put someone else needs before her own. She has the type of energy to light up a whole room and put a smile on anyone's face. Change a bad day to a great one. But right now, it's very tough for Scarlet to be her wonderful self with these issues at hand. Before receiving the notice of denial, we felt the happiest we have ever been to now at our lowest.
We are asking for any sort of help for the immigration fees you are willing to offer. The total for Boundless and the government filing fees are $3,109. By chance, if we are lucky enough to pass our goal, those funds will go straight towards Scarlet's living expenses. We would greatly appreciate any amount you are able to donate to help her during this tough time and to help Scarlet be able to work again.
Thank you ❤️
