My name is Hannah Hottenroth. My brother is Hunter Hottenroth, the man we came to know as “Scape”. On October 11, 2023, we sadly lost my brother to suicide, a few short months after him turning 30 years old. To know Hunter, was to love him. Hunter was the kind of man to help anyone in need. Whether that meant, listening and talking to someone who needed to vent, always checking in on his loved ones, offering anyone to stay at his pad if they needed a place to stay for the night or for awhile. He knew what it felt like and loved to be able to host and welcome many into his pad as a safe zone and for it to always be a good time. When people would stay at his pad, he would love to show them around town to his favorite places, views, the beach, restaurants and bars. Hunter would protect everyone around him, even if they just met. He cherished every moment he spent with everyone. Hunter always kept a smile on his face no matter what he was going through. Depression is something no one should ever deal with and go through alone. It’s hard for some men to speak about mental health. That’s why I’m making this GoFundMe in hopes of making a foundation in honor of Hunter’s name called “Scape’s Pad”. A foundation that will continue to raise money over time with outreach, pop ups, to bring awareness to mental health, and suicide prevention. Most importantly, for everyone to know they are not alone and the world is a better place with you in it! After raising enough money to start the foundation, “Scape’s Pad”, the goal would be to open a safe zone “Scape’s Pad” where everyone that needs a place to vent and not feel alone, or needs a place to stay, can go. Exactly how it was at his pad for everyone he cared about. He always welcomed everyone with open arms and open doors to those in need. Hunter was truly loved, will be dearly missed, and we will always continue to keep his name and memory alive forever. Many hearts are broken of his passing from all over his hometown of Venice, all over Los Angeles, the Bay Area, New Orleans, New York, and more.
In addition, we also will be donating a plaque and special seat to a place Hunter frequented, the Irish Times. We will forever keep him with us and his name and memory alive.
