Scammed and Heartbroken — Help Me Get Back on the Bike
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
I’m Dane—and motocross isn’t just something I do. It’s who I am. In one moment, a fake check and a stolen bike turned my biggest passion into heartbreak.
For the past two years, nearly every weekend, I’ve loaded up my dirt bike and driven hours just to ride. Riding is my passion, my escape, and what makes me feel most alive. I even started a YouTube channel to share that journey—from barely finishing a lap to pushing through 20-minute motos at a pace I never thought I’d reach.
But recently, everything came crashing down.
I was selling my dirt bike through Facebook Marketplace when I got scammed. A guy named “Daniel” said he was buying it for his son. When I arrived, the son met me and handed over what looked like a legitimate cashier’s check—exactly what I prefer for big transactions. We talked bikes, wheelies, and even joked about riding together sometime.
He asked if he could test ride it, which is totally normal in the motocross world, and I said sure—after all, I had the check in hand. He rode off doing incredible wheelies—I was literally cheering him on. But he never came back. A few days later, the check bounced. It was fake. The bike—my pride and joy, and years' worth of savings—was gone.
This has been absolutely crushing.
Not just financially, but emotionally. I’ve put everything into this sport—my time, money, and heart. Getting robbed like this, by someone who acted like a fellow rider, feels like getting stabbed in the back by your own team.
I’m asking for your help to get back on two wheels. Whether it’s through a donation or simply sharing this story, anything helps. I just want to keep riding, keep growing, and keep sharing my journey with all of you.
Thank you so much for your support.
Much love,
Dane
