Team Graeme & Bjorn - Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

THE EXPEDITION April 2024
We are excited to share our upcoming adventure to Everest Base Camp - a 15 day trek through the Himalayas, which will provide some great experiences, but also a chance to raise money for an amazing charity - The CdLS Foundation UK & Ireland.

On Sunday 14th April, we will start our fully-self-funded trip from Katmandhu to Lukla airport dubbed "the world’s most dangerous airport"!

From then on, the 130km of trekking ascends to a height of 5,644m, with changing conditions including freezing temperatures, low oxygen levels, possible altitude sickness, and little hot water.

We will be acclimatising throughout the trek which includes overnight stays at Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Debuche Village, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep.

And on arrival at Base camp, it is then a climb up Kalapatthar which sits 300 metres above Base Camp and has 50% Oxygen Levels compared to Sea level.

Our training so far has included treks throughout the Sussex and Surrey downs and Inverness while wearing 20Kg weighted vests / rucksacks. We are also looking to visit Snowden in the coming weeks.

THE WHY

Meet Ben - Ben is Bjorn's 11 year old son, who was diagnosed at birth with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS). Ben's journey has been a great challenge, but due to the support from the charity and the awareness it has raised for professionals around diagnosis, genetic research and reaching out to other families, Ben's happiness and ability to thrive have been magnified.

THE CAUSE
Our trek to Everest Base Camp symbolizes the uphill battles faced by individuals and families affected by CdLS. Throughout our expedition, we aim to raise awareness and funds to support research, help impacted families and resources for CdLS.

If this expedition can help just 1 other family in a similar way, then it will be a success!

— We will personally be donating 10% of the grand total fund money raised;

“SO PLEASE DIG DEEP TO MAKE US DIG DEEP!”
