Sara the Survivor, a Stand against Cancer!

Donation protected
Please help the Hayden's during this difficult and arduous journey, called cancer. Sara and Brandon Hayden are both local middle school teachers, at a facility dedicated to military families.  Sara teaches math and Brandon teaches special education. Brandon and Sara are parents to a beautiful 5 year-old little boy, named Will who just started kindergarten.  In addition to Will, they are also proud parents to a brand new baby girl named Finley Clare.

What should be a wonderful and exciting time, has turned into a nightmare. During Sara's 34th week of pregnancy she experienced extreme shortness of breath and was hospitalized to determine the cause.  Unfortunately, the results of a CT scan determined Sara has colorectal cancer.  Due to the advanced stage of cancer, doctors decided to deliver Finley Clare by C-section 6 weeks early. Baby girl arrived at 2:10 pm on August 14, 2019, weighing in at 2 lbs 12 ounces. Thankfully, Miss Finley Clare is a healthy baby girl. Due to her prematurity, she has several ongoing issues such as high blood pressure, and under developed kidneys. For these reasons, Finley will be staying in the NICU to reach her gestational age which will be about another 5 to 6 weeks.

Although baby was born healthy Sara had several complications during the C-section  including severe blood loss and a code white.  Sara's maternal fetal medicine doctors were assisted by trauma surgeons to stop the bleeding. Fortunately, they were able to save Sara's life by removing her uterus and cauterizing ruptured blood vessels. Presently, Sara is recovering in the hospital, but she will soon undergo several procedures and invasive tests to determine the best course of treatment for her cancer.

Sara is a survivor, she survived a cardiac arrest in 2009 and came back stronger than ever. We do not expect anything less this time around! Sara's family and friends have put their trust in God to heal and protect Sara during this difficult time. Following Sara's cardiac arrest she formed a very special relationship with God and knows that this journey, albeit difficult, is part of His plan.

Due to medical costs, loss of income, and the expense of a new baby in the NICU we are trying to raise enough money to offset Sara's income for the year. We are hopeful that Sara can complete treatment and beat cancer once and for all. Please donate to this wonderful and loving family of four.
